Sounds make line-up changes

Embattled GM Yaeger moving back upstairs to AmeriSports

When your team is struggling, a good bet can often be to bring in some fresh legs.

That seems to be the thinking of the Nashville Sounds, who have made a series of changes in the team’s leadership.

The new leadership line-up consists of Joe Hart, stepping in as general manager, Brandon Vonderharr, who has been named executive director of business operations, and Jason Bennett and Doug Scopel, who will both serve as assistant GMs.

The most notable of these appointments is that of Hart, who replaces former GM Glenn Yaeger.

Yaeger was in many ways made to bear the brunt of the team's less than successful relationship with Metro under then-Mayor Bill Purcell. It now appears he will not be the one to go to bat for the team with Mayor Karl Dean. He is moving back upstairs to resume his role as the chief operating officer of the team’s parent, AmeriSports LLC, which he held until 2001.

I'm not sad to see Mr. Yaeger depart. In the times I saw him in person and on TV, he always came off as a little defensive and presumptuous. Good luck to the next guy.
