
Tennessee's incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander learned last week that he has a big lead iin preference polls. Now we are finding out that those poll numbers are backed up by fund-raising dollars. The federal candidates have until midnight to report their fund-raising efforts to the Federal Election Commission.
The Alexander campaign confirmed to NashvillePost.com today that in the last fund-raising quarter it raised a total of $982,552.90. That total brings its cash-on-hand total to over $2.8 million.
A big boost to Alexander's fund-raising efforts came recently with a campaign event headlined by former President George H. W. Bush.
On the Democratic side of the aisle, former Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Bob Tuke's campaign has raised just over $225,000, bringing their total fund-raising efforts to just under $265,000.
Finally, representatives of former Knox County Clerk Mike Padgett's campaign tell NashvillePost.com that they have raised approimately $80,000 from all 95 counties.
