Headline homes: Nashville's top 10 sales, February 2008

This month's buyers include the guy who treats the Preds' bruises, execs from Athlon and CHS, Amy Grant's Ma and Pa, a leading banker, Lonestar's ex-singer, and two new penthouse-dwellers in the Adelicia

Greetings, double-income docs, finance/law supercouples, Music Row veterans and the rest of you peasants as well... Here is this month's list of big home sales in Metro Nashville and its environs.

What follows are the basics of February 2008's top single-family residential transactions in Nashville and its contiguous counties, as best we can determine from combing public records. Some of these sales closed the month before, but we go by the month when the deeds were recorded.

1. 4030 Sunnybrook Drive, 37205

Buyers: Dr. David Moore & Dr. Jennifer Halpern
Sale price: $2.48 million
Builder/seller: Carpenter Construction Inc.
Seller's agent: Julie Carpenter (Keller Williams)
Buyer's agent: Debbie Parker (Keller Williams)

Orthopedic surgeon David Moore is the Nashville Predators' team physician. Orthopedic oncologist Jennifer Halpern is assistant professor of orthopedics and rehabilitation at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Carpenter Construction paid $530,000 for this parcel in 2006 and cleared the lot. Builder Rob Carpenter, whose wife Julie sold the house, has another knockdown in the works across the street.

2. 6021 Jocelyn Hollow Road, 37205

Buyers: Bill & Julie Gaglione
Sale price: $2.45 million
Builder/sellers: Teri & Brad Worthington
Sellers' agents: Melanie Baker & Rhonda Brandon (Worth Properties)
Buyers' agent: Rick French (French Christianson Patterson)

Bill Gaglione is a senior exec at Athlon Sports. Teri Worthington built this 8,700-square-foot home after purchasing the two-acre property for $535,000 in 2006 and clearing the lot. Dr. Brad Worthington is president of Neurosurgical Anesthesiologists PLC in Nashville.

3. 243 Governors Way, Brentwood, 37027

Buyers: Thomas D. and Mary Miller
Sale price: $2.12 million
Seller: Michael D. Sanford Living Trust
Seller's agent: Laura Baugh (Worth Properties)
Buyers' agent: Jodi Griffey (Keller Williams)

Tom Miller was named president of a Midwestern operations division at hospital chain Community Health Systems last summer, relocating from Indiana. This seven-year-old home, located on the 11th fairway of the golf course within the gated Governors Club development, has almost 9,200 square feet of living space. There are six bedrooms and seven baths.

4. 712 Westview Ave., 37205

Buyers: Rick and Sarah Reisner
Sale price: $1.66 million
Sellers: Crews and Bratschi Johnston
Agents: not known

Rick Reisner is a principal with investment firm Andrew W. Byrd & Co., while his wife Sarah is a partner at the law firm of Manier & Herod. Crews Johnston is well known in Nashville commercial real estate circles as a principal at Colliers Turley Martin Tucker.

5. 4507 Carlton Drive, 37215

Buyer: Marci Spigel
Sale price: $1.48 million
Builder/seller: McGavock Properties LLC
Seller's agent: Hal Rosson (Freeman Webb)
Buyer's agent: Sarah H. MacIntyre (American Heritage)

This new home in Forest Hills, with five bedrooms, five full bathrooms and two half baths, has almost 7,000 square feet of living area. Marci Spigel, buyer on the deed, is married to Dr. David Spigel of Tennessee Oncology.

6. 1100 Belle Meade Blvd., 37205

Buyer: Rick Hart
Sale price: $1.45 million
Seller: Gloria Napier Grant Living Trust
Seller's agent: Shauna W. Brooks (French Christianson Patterson)
Buyer's agent: Janice R. Lovvorn (Fridrich & Clark)

Renasant Bank of Tennessee President Hart bought this home from Gloria Grant and retired physician Burton Grant, parents of gospel/pop singer Amy Grant. The four-bedroom, three-bath, one-story house sits on a 1.2-acre lot.

7. 900 20th Ave. S. (Adelicia condominiums), unit #1709, 37212

Buyer: Randolph & Elaine Blake
Sale price: $1.44 million
Seller: Adelicia Development LLC
Agents: not known

Dr. Randolph Blake is Centennial Professor of Psychology at Vanderbilt. The Blakes are one of two buyers so far to nail down units on the top of the Adelicia, a Midtown condo tower with a panoply of lifestyle amenities.

8. 517 Excalibur Court, Franklin, 37067

Buyer: Michael D. and Carroll L. Sanford
Sale price: $1.33 million
Seller: Hale & Thomas Properties LLC
Agents: not known

Richie McDonald was the lead singer for country act Lonestar for more than 15 years, until it broke up last year. He's now a solo performer. This home sits on almost 21 acres near Lascassas, north of the 'Boro. Features include a guest house, a pool house with fireplace and wet bar, and a five-stall equestrian stable.

10. 900 20th Ave. S. (Adelicia condominiums), unit #1708, 37212

Buyer: Van Finger III
Sale price: $1.21 million
Seller: Adelicia Development LLC
Agents: not known

This Adelicia penthouse will be a neighbor to the one noted above. The buyer is the son of the former CEO of Fairhope, Ala.-based shipping container manufacturer Precision IBC.
