Hoar Construction has pulled a $12.1 million permit to build the "final two levels" of the new parking garage at the Mall at Green Hills.

A call to mall representatives was not returned by publication time, but the move is sure to reignite speculation that owner Davis Street Land Co. is close to inking a deal with a specialty department store such as Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. The most recent round of serious chatter came last summer when Davis Street acquired several parcels along Cleghorn Avenue on the west side of the mall.

Watkins expansion

Watkins College of Art & Design is moving forward with the next phase of its MetroCenter campus master plan. The school is working with Solomon Builders on Turner Hall, a three-story, 48-unit dormitory almost identical to Hawkins Hall, which opened a few years ago.

Solomon last week pulled a permit worth almost $1.5 million for the project, which is scheduled to be filled completely by students this August. Christy Stone, the school's director of external relations, said its master plan calls for an expansion of the main academic building and the building a second classroom building by 2013.

Vandy offices at Loews

Flow Construction will rehab more than 12,000 square feet on the ninth floor of the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel for Vanderbilt University's development and alumni relations offices. The work is worth a shade under $400,000.
