Lexington-based FirstBank announced today that it has tapped Greg Bowers to serve as its chief credit officer. In this role, Bowers will be in charge of the bank’s internal credit risk management functions and will serve as the chairman of its credit committee.
During his career, Bowers has worked at First Union National Bank, where he served as senior vice president and senior underwriter for its Nashville commercial real estate lending unit, as well as Wells Fargo Bank here in Nashville and Regions Bank in Birmingham.
He previously worked with FirstBank from 2003 to 2004, when he was senior credit officer.
This is the first major hire Jim Ayers’ bank has announced since some of its executives were picked off by fellow upstart, CapStar Bank.
