Local Internet service provider ISDN-Net has acquired the assets and customers of Net-Express, a peer in the Knoxville area.

Fourteen-year-old ISDN-Net is buying the assets from Dataworld Inc. for an undisclosed amount. The deal brings the company between 1,500 and 2,000 residential and business customers.

ISDN-Net President Jerry Dunlap said his company, which offers Internet service in 87 of Tennessee's 95 counties, plans no major changes for Net-Express customers, adding that today's deal will add to his company "already significant presence in the greater Knoxville market."
