12-04-2008 2:45 PM — Mayor Karl Dean today has asked the Civil Service Commission to give extra time off to Metro employees over Christmas.
The mayor wants to give employees administrative leave, which is paid time off, for Dec. 26, the Friday after Christmas, confirmed Dean spokesperson Janel Lacy.
In his letter to Civil Service Commission Chair William Farmer, Dean indicated that this proposal is his way of acknowledging employees who’ve worked through a tough year for Metro.
“I recognize this has been a lean budget year for Metro employees, and would like to acknowledge them for the many services they provide throughout the year for the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County,” Dean wrote.
Metro employees already receive Dec. 24 and 25 as paid time off from work.
Dean’s request will be considered by the Civil Service Commission at a regularly scheduled meeting at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The meeting will take place in the Civil Service Conference Room of the 222 Building on Third Avenue North.
