Circuit Court Judge Muriel Robinson has submitted her resignation to Gov. Phil Bredesen.
After 41 years on the bench, Robinson’s retirement will be effective Feb. 15.
As is always the case with coveted judgeships, a slew of candidates are likely to submit their names to Bredesen’s judicial selection commission for consideration to replace Robinson, whose court specialized in family law.
Bredesen appointed Nashville attorney Joe Binkley Jr. to an open circuit court seat earlier this year after the resignation of Judge Walter Kurtz.
Among the 10 candidates for that post was Nashville attorney and Metro Council member Mike Jameson. On Thursday, Jameson told NashvillePost.com he would consider applying for the job. Jameson was one of three finalists for the seat vacated by Kurtz. The other finalist was Circuit Court Special Master Marsh Nichols.
Other candidates at the time included Joelton attorney Jefre Scot Goldtrap; Nashville attorneys Katherine Boyt, Amy Gowan, Cynthia Odle and Sarah Stein; Russell Perkins with the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office.
Perkins is now a Chancery Court judge.
