Piedmont to build in Century City

New complex to be ready in 18 months

Piedmont Natural Gas will keep its regional operations center in Nashville after announcing today it will build a new home in Century City.

Charlotte-based Piedmont (Ticker: PNY) bought more than 30 acres in Century City back in August. It plans to begin construction on the new location later this year with completion scheduled for the spring of 2010.

Piedmont, which employs 210 in the Nashville area, has sold its current MetroCenter property to the state.

Piedmont officials are pleased, as is Mayor Karl Dean. Along with today's announcement, Piedmont also has asked Tennessee regulators for a reduction in wholesale prices in November. That means its customers will pay less for the second month in a row.
