NHCC chief leaving for hospital company

After leading the Health Care Council for 10+ years, president to step down at the end of January

Nashville Health Care Council President Matt Gallivan is set to step down at the end of the month.

Gallivan, who has been at the helm of the trade group for more than a decade, will join current NHCC Chairman Wayne Smith at Community Health Systems as the hospital operator’s vice president of government relations. In the newly created role, he will oversee the corporation’s state and federal government relations efforts.

Current NHCC Vice President Caroline Young has been tapped to fill Gallivan’s place temporarily as a the search for a successor begins.

A special committee of the NHCC board has been formed to conduct the search. It includes Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce President Ralph Schulz, Community Health's Smith and former NHCC chairs Tom Cigarran of Healthways and VUMC vice chancellor Harry Jacobson.
