Davidson County Juvenile Court Clerk Vic Lineweaver is being booked at this time into Metro Jail, having been arrested at the direction of Juvenile Court referees Scott Rosenberg, William Griffin, and Sophia Crawford.
The three referees, who are appointed by and act under the authority of Juvenile Court Judge Betty Adams Green, ordered the arrest of Lineweaver today for "willful civil contempt of a court order."
According to Tim Adgent, a Juvenile Court employee and a member of Green's senior staff, the arrest order comes on the heels of Lineweaver's repeated refusal to produce court documents.
Adgent tells NashvillePost.com that Lineweaver "failed to produce juvenile records for scheduled dismissal dockets" requested by the referees. He said that Lineweaver was ordered a week ago to hand over the documents and given a deadline of 1 p.m. today. When the hour passed without receipt of the requested records, he was taken into custody by court enforcement staff.
According to Adgent, the request for the records had been in Lineweaver's hands for longer than a week, but that he had finally been given a deadline of today in a hearing last week.
When asked if Judge Green approved of the arrest, Adgent said that the referees act under her authority and could not have made the move without her consent.
Since the arrest was made by court enforcement staff, the only involvement that the Nashville Sheriff's Office and the Metro Nashville Police Department will be in booking Lineweaver.
