Healthcare publisher ConnectivHealth, based in Arizona but with local roots, has acquired Nashville healthcare information firm Relegent.
Relegent provides health care information to the hospital and education industries through its products HealthTeacher and Discovery Hospital. HealthTeacher delivers online health curriculum materials for elementary and secondary schools. Discovery Hospital, a partnership with cable TV giant Discovery Communications Inc., delivers health content to consumers via more than 150 hospital websites.
The buyer, ConnectivHealth, known until recently as FWI Inc., is the parent of VerusMed, which also publishes healthcare news and information. It is led by Nashville media entrepreneur Scott McQuigg.
The combined company will maintain a presence in Nashville, with Relegent’s CEO, Tod Fetherling, serving as its chief product officer.
Both CEOs have long histories in Nashville.
McQuigg is the former publisher of the Nashville Business Journal. Additionally, he co-founded and was CEO of healthcare research and publishing firm HealthLeaders, prior to its sale to a Boston company in 2005.
Fetherling, prior to his time at the helm of Relegent, worked with local IT outfit Codigent Solutions and also spent time with Columbia/HCA.
ConnectivHealth, based in Scottsdale, Ariz., has a presence in town and counts local venture firm Petra Capital among its investors.
