And the buyouts just keep on coming.

The web-based digital media publication paidContent.org has published an article claiming that Brentwood-based sports information website Rivals.com is close to being acquired by web giant Yahoo! And according to the article, the price-tag for the company may reach $100 million.

Rivals, which barely limped out of the dotcom bust, has grown rapidly in recent years after switching to a paid access site. It now provides content to a number of large media outlets inlcuding Sports Illustrated's SI.com, USAToday.com, AOL Sports, and Yahoo! Sports, partnerships that have generated enormous traffic for the site.

In 2006 the website saw more than 3.5 billion pages viewed. And in February of this year, on national signing day, Rivals recorded 74.3 million pageviews in a single day.

The company saw revenue of approximately $22 million in 2006. This year it is looking to push that figure up to $35 million.
