VUMC researcher named a rising star by science mag

Marylyn Ritchie
04-11-2007 2:26 PMGenome Tenchnology, a magazine aimed at scientists working in pharmaceutical and biotech companies, universities, and biomedical research institutions, has selected Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Marylyn Ritchie as one of its 30 up-and-coming principal investigators.

Ritchie works with Vanderbilt's Center for Human Genetics Research. Her work is focused on developing new computational and statistical methods for analyzing genetic data. Currently, she and her research team are attempting to identify genes that make people more suceptible to diseases like Alzheimer's and depression.

In order to be selected, the scientists could not be more than five years into their first faculty or equivalent positions. The magazine called them "the rising stars people should be watching right now."
