NashvillePost.com has learned that Edward Meacham Yarbrough, the Nashville lawyer who is President Bush's nominee for U.S. Attorney here, was confirmed by a vote this morning in U.S. Judiciary Committee, in Washington, D.C.
Yarbrough's appointment is expected to be confirmed by the customary U.S. Senate vote, probably without dissenting votes cast and perhaps as early as this evening.
Contacted by NashvillePost.com, Yarbrough said late this afternoon that he plans to begin work as U.S. Attorney quickly following the Senate vote.
Paul O'Brien is currently Interim U.S. Attorney, and would return to his post as 1st Assistant U.S. Attorney. O'Brien succeeded Interim U.S. Attorney Craig Morford, who became deputy U.S. attorney general.
Yarbrough's name was recently dropped from the online shingle of Hollins, Wagster, Yarbrough, Weatherly & Raybin, P.C. Chuckling, Yarbrough explained that his colleagues were planning to redesign the website and "got an itchy trigger finger," anticipating his departure.
