Television talk show host Carson Daly is coming to Nashville law firm Durham & Dread.
Well, maybe, one of these days, just to visit his brother Mark Daly, who is joining the firm to lead its entry into immigration and visa services. Daly had been on his own as an immigration attorney with a firm named Immigration & Naturalization Attorneys. The office was connected with one in California and one in Florida.
Adam Dread and Blair Durham met Daly during a Nashville chamber new-member orientation this month. They thought he was the right fit for the immigration department they were looking to start.
Daly earned his law degree from the Santa Barbara College of Law in 1999. Before going to law school, Daly had been a songwriter, music publisher, musician and a union stagehand in San Francisco. Fluent in Spanish, he started his immigration work as a paralegal while attending law school at night. He has assisted people from the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Asia and Europe with immigration and naturalization.
If his brother — the former MTV host whose late-night talk show on NBC is perpetual fodder for ribbing on Saturday Night Live and is credited with introducing the concept of karma to Earl Hickey of NBC's sitcom My Name is Earl — ever does drop by, he won't be the only showman in the office. Dread, before he became an attorney and Metro Councilman-at-large, was a stand-up comedian and morning radio DJ who made guest appearances on a number of television game shows.
