Political insiders have been abuzz about the fact that D'Army Bailey, a finalist for the Tennessee Supreme Court and a current Memphis Circuit Court judge, appeared in an independent film called Street Life two years ago. The movie was written, directed and produced by Tim Willis. Willis is better known in Tennessee political circles as the key government informant for the FBI's "Tennessee Waltz" public corruption investigation.
In this clip -- shot is the same office that was used by the FBI in its "sting" of corrupt public officials -- Bailey plays an FBI agent admonished by a superior officer for his work on an investigation.
In a conversation yesterday with the Memphis Commercial Appeal's Rick Locker, Bailey was asked if he regretted being in the film. "In the film Street Life, I had no knowledge whatsoever, and I don't think anyone else did either, that this was anything but an above-board presentation," Bailey told the paper. "We did it with no compensation. I've worked on other projects. It keeps my skills honed in that area."
Bailey has also appeared in mainstream Hollywood films such as How Stella Got her Groove Back and The People vs. Larry Flynt.
