09-20-2006 4:33 PM — Renard François, an associate at Bass, Berry & Sims PLC, has been appointed to a U.S. Department of Homeland Security advisory committee tasked with addressing a wide array of issues, including individual privacy, data integrity and interoperability.
Prior to joining the litigation practice of Bass Berry, Francois served in Washington, D.C., as a staff attorney for the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection, where he addressed such issues as Internet fraud, spam and privacy.
Francois earned his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School and his LL.M. in information technology and privacy law from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. He is a graduate of Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville.
