Airport rehab begins, Whole Foods in Green Hills getting closer, former Garden Ridge store getting new life, and more

Bell & Associates Construction LP is beginning the major rehab work at the Nashville International Airport. The firm, formerly Ray Bell Construction, recently pulled a permit valued at $39.7 million. The airport is beginninga multi-year rehab project that includes upgrading the airport's security area and bringing in new restaurants and retail shops.

Purity cooler expansion
R.C. Mathews Contractor LLC is constructing a 28,601-square-foot cooler addition to Purity Dairies' production building at 360 Murfreesboro Pike. The permit is valued at $4.2 million.

Garden Ridge's new life
T.W. Frierson Contractor Inc. is finishing out the 125,000-square-foot building at 5720 Crossings Blvd. for diabetes supply firm AmMed Direct. The permit is valued at $3.2 million. Parsons-based American Health Properties, AmMed's parent company, bought the long-empty building near Hickory Hollow Mall in mid September for $5.6 million. It formerly housed defunct home-decorating store Garden Ridge. AmMed will move from space on Murfreesboro Road.

Whole Foods space underway
Hoar Construction LLC has started construction on the 52,777-square-foot shell building at 4015 Hillsboro Pike, in the former H.G. Hill space, that will house grocery chain Whole Foods. The permit is valued at $3.2 million.

Apartments rise
Construction Enterprise Inc. is constructing buildings A and B of Swiss Ridge Apartments at 499 Swiss Ave., off Nolensville Road just south of Old Hickory Boulevard. The permits is valued at $1.7 million.

New warehouse
Hawkins Development Co. is constructing a 30,645-foot warehouse at 730 Massman Drive. The permit is valued at $1.2 million.

Apartment reroofing
I.C.F. Builders and Consultants Inc. is replacing the roofs on Knollwood Apartments at 865 Bellevue Road. The work is valued at $879,000.

Hillsboro High getting ADA
Shankle-Lind LLC is doing interior and exterior ADA upgrades to Hillsboro High School at 3812 Hillsboro Pike. The construction costs are estimated to be $820,000.

Marshalls on Charlotte
The Parkes Co. Inc. is finishing out shell space at 6806 Charlotte Pike for clothing retailer Marshalls. The permit is valued at $817,662.

Terminal Highland Ridge
Tenant Building Group Group LLC is rehabbing 20,811 square feet of space in Highland Ridge I at 565 Marriott Drive for Ceres Terminals Inc. and Yusen Terminals Inc., which are subsidiaries of Japanese shipping company NYK Group. The permit is valued at $786,800.

SSR finishing out
D.F. Chase Inc. is finishing out interior space for engineering design firm Smith Seckman Reid Inc. at 2995 Sidco Drive. The work is valued at $449,292.
