“The Judge granted a divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences to each of us,” the couple said in a joint statement. “We remain friends and plan to work closely together to rear our three beautiful daughters.”
The Millers said they “have no intentions of publicly commenting further on this issue and are hopeful this will end the inquiries into our private matters.”
Those inquiries, by media outlets from across the state, arose after it was reported that Miller, a vocal proponent of “traditional family values,” was having an affair with one of his female staff members.
The divorce proceedings have been but one distraction for the Senator. The Bradley News Weekly’s coverage of his marital issues led Miller to call last month for an advertiser boycott of the gadfly publication in his constituency. And last week, it was revealed that some of Miller’s former state senate staffers had been called to testify before a grand jury as part of the continuing “Tennessee Waltz” investigation.
