Nashville investigation firm acquired for $5 million

06-28-2005 6:45 AMGlobalOptions Group, a risk mitigation service, announced Monday that it has agreed to acquire Nashville-based investigation firm Confidential Business Resources Inc. (CBR) for $5 million and the assumption of debt.

An official from GlobalOptions, whose company website boasts it has “attorneys, crisis communications specialists, investigators, former senior policymakers and even commandos who can be mobilized on a moment's notice to protect you, your employees, corporate reputation, bottom line, and share holder value,” said it has “gained a great executive in Halsey Fischer.” Global Options has offices in Washington and New York and on its website lists advisory board members that include a former head of the joint chiefs of staff, a former head of the CIA and a former senior GOP congressman.

Fischer, founder and president of CBR, will move into the role of president of GlobalOptions’ investigations division.

Recently NashvillePost.com reported CBR was sued by Commercial Index Bureau Inc. for allegedly conducting secret investigative services by hiring unlicensed investigators in violation of its agreements with CIB and certain state laws. Fischer said Monday the case is in mediation and should be resolved soon.

On Friday, Global Options merged into a publicly traded shell company and began trading on the Nasdaq Bulletin Board under the symbol "GLOI.OB".
