Historic downtown building for sale

Asking price $10.7 million

02-09-2005 4:26 PM — Post Properties of Atlanta, Ga., has put its last Midstate building up for sale.

The historic Bennie-Dillon building at 700 Church Street downtown is one of Post’s six apartment properties currently listed for sale, according to Post’s quarterly report earlier this week.

Post purchased the 12-story building in 1999 for roughly $10 million and is now asking $10.7 million.

Developer Tony Giarratana, who is one of several bidders, told NashvillePost.com Wednesday he and his partner The Novare Group of Atlanta are interested in converting the apartment property into condominiums.

A spokeswoman with Post Properties referred all questions to the press release.

The Benny-Dillon, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is the last Post property in Nashville. The company had sold its Post at Green Hills and Post at Hillsboro Village in 2000.
