Separately, Bredesen began budget hearings Monday with the heads of various state departments. Unlike in previous years when Bredesen requested that his commissioners outline cuts to their respective budgets, this year Bredesen is asking departments simply to hold the line.
Bredesen met publicly with Commissioner Sue Whitaker of the Department of Tourist Development and with Economic and Community Development Commissioner Matt Kisber earlier today.
