Saint Thomas, Baptist return to Aetna network

11-01-2004 11:01 AM — More than a year after failing to negotiate reimbursement rates and parting ways, Aetna and two Saint Thomas Health Services hospitals have signed a new two-year agreement that returns Saint Thomas and Baptist hospitals to Aetna’s Nashville-area managed care network.

Aetna’s contracts with Saint Thomas and Baptist terminated last year in May and August, respectively, without renewal agreements. Now that the two hospitals are back in Aetna’s network, the insurer said it has agreements in place with all the major Nashville hospitals.

The new agreement takes effect Jan. 1. Aetna has 170,000 members in Tennessee.
