Summers organizes volunteer lawyers for troops

07-18-2003 12:00 AM — A group of Middle Tennessee attorneys have joined forces to volunteer their services to deploying and returning military personnel and their families. For the approximately 3,500 deployed troops serving in the Tennessee Army and Air National Guard, this group of attorneys will be handling matters such as asserting servicemen’s veteran status rights as well as any other issues that might be come up as a result of deployment.

According to State Staff Judge Advocate of the Tennessee Army National Guard Colonel Paul G. Summers, who also is state Attorney General, participating in this program thus far are attorneys Russell Baldwin, Kal Helou, Hugh Houser Jr., Jack Lowery Jr., Melvin Malone, Russell Morris, Michael Moschel and Helen Rogers.

These attorneys can be contacted via the State Staff Judge Advocate’s Office at (615) 313-3054. Tennessee National Guard members seeking professional legal assistance will be referred to one of the National Guard staff of attorneys or to the volunteer legal unit.
