Local couple starts online organic/natural foods delivery service

Becomes first company to complete Nashville Capital Network process

08-23-2004 4:15 PM — A local couple has created the area's first online organic food delivery service and natural foods grocery store.

Set to begin operations in early October, Plumgood Food will take orders online and over the telephone and deliver organic fruits and vegetables, meats, chicken, fish and dairy products. The new company is based at 10 Cannery Row, just off 8th Avenue.

Owners Eric and Kate Satz received help in raising capital from the Nashville Capital Network, a collaboration of the Nashville Technology Council, Vanderbilt University and local investors. Several Nashville Capital Networks members invested in Plumgood, making it the organization's first company to make it all the way through to the funding stage.

"We have assembled a top-notch team and we are eager to transform the conventional purchase of groceries from a time-consuming, required chore to a quick and convenient process easily done from the comfort of your home or office," Kate Satz said in a release.

Plumgood's owners are building their company with the help of numerous Nashville-based service providers. Richardson, Delevante & Quadland is developing the company's website, advertising strategy and branding, while Atiba is developing the information technology system supporting the website.

Xebec Management is handling payroll needs, Loud & Clear Communications is responsible for public relations and events and Advanced Payment Solutions is handling credit card processing. Michael Cooper of Murals & more is painting a mural on the outside of the building.

Plumgood will donate excess food to Nashville's Table, a nonprofit that rescues food for those in need and on whose board Eric Satz serves.
